Issue: For Motor and Mitchell
  1. After reviewing an "Inquiry Request" from an independent repairer, the Committee has determined that the time allowance for this operation in the Motor and Mitchell data bases may be insufficient. Observation has shown that overlapping panels must be removed to facilitate the removal of the hinge pillar.
  2. No "Labor Text Notes" informing the estimator that other panels must be removed for access.
Response:
  • Mitchell–The hinge pillar has been adjusted from 7.8 hrs to 13.5 hrs with a labor note stating it includes R&R the connection plate. The center pillar/rocker panel has been adjusted from 9.0 hrs to 15.5 hrs.
  • Motor – Changed the labor time for the Hinge Pillar to 8.5hrs, footnoted: "Part included with uniside assy., Includes R&R connector plate, after all necessary bolted on parts are removed."
  • ADP – ADP allows 19.5 hours for this operation (no change warranted). Additionally, ADP has informed the web site that the time allowance for the center pillar and rocker has been increased to 15.4 hours from the previous 9.4 hours. This change will be reflected on the 7/2001 CD.
Suggestion:
  • Thoroughly examine this operation to determine time allowance considerations for the unrecognized steps in the removal process.
  • Include a labor text note stating what panels must be removed for access.
Results/Change:

ADP May 31, 2001 Time allowance for hinge pillar of 19.5 hrs. is sufficient. No change warranted.
Time allowance for the center pillar and rocker has been increased to 15.4 hours from the previous 9.4 hours. This change will be reflected on the 7/2001 CD
