|
Date of Request:
May 21, 2002 1. The quarter glass may be a non-reusable component, designed not to be removed without destruction. Note: While trying to remove the quarter glass we were successful in removing the urethane adhesive but were unable to remove or cut through the plastic pins that anchor the glass to the body. After destroying the glass, we called the local glass dealer/installer for information and they informed us that this is a non-reusable glass and that the plastic pins are iatrical to the integrity of the glass and the glass must be broken to be removed. Suggestion:To all providers: 1. Note that this may be a non-reusable component. Results:
Note
from Mitchell: The
manufacturer advises that the 1/4 glass on the Celica is a
non-reusable component. The
glass should not be broken out to be removed, but rather, carefully
cut out with the piano wire method.
The database will be updated to reflect the glass is a
non-reusable piece and the R&I for the component will be deleted
from the system. Further
research also concludes that the same holds true for 1/4 glass' on
the Avalon, Highlander, Solara and Sequoia. Our database will also
be updated to reflect the manufacturer's repair information.
The Toyota Tundra back glass is of a similar configuration,
however, the pins to the glass are metal and the manufacturer shows
the glass as re-usable.
