Inquiry
(as suggested by inquirer) The
inquirer suggests after observing this operation, General Motors
take the position that the upper and lower door side welded on
hinges be replaced as new when replacing the front and rear doors.
Inquirer suggests the data providers be specific in their labor
note, reflecting the necessity to R&R the welded on hinges and
not suggest an R&I operation. It is in the opinion of inquirer
that removing and reinstalling (R&I) the welded hinge, the hinge
incurs removal damage affecting the integrity of the hinge. Suggestion
To All: Please review operation and “labor note” for this operation. Please clearly state in labor note the necessity to replace the door hinge in conjunction with the door.
Responses:
Mitchell currently lists a parts specific note in relation to
the doors that the hinges must also be replaced in conjunction.
Motor Information System 10/8/2004 - (DR1GN02) Added footnote to upper and lower door side hinges, “Time is after door is removed. Time is for replacement as outline in manufactures collision repair manual. Replacement doors are pre-drilled for hinges and requires replacement hinges be used.” |
