Inquiry (as stated by inquirer)

WE REPLACED A LEFT REAR DOOR ON A 2001 DODGE DAKOTA QUAD CAB. THE INTERIOR TRIM (PART# 5GH13WL5AD) SURROUNDING THE STATIONARY VENT WINDOW CANNOT BE REMOVED WITHOUT BREAKING THE MOUNTING TABS. THERE ARE STEEL CLIPS HOT WELDED TO THE PROTRUDING PLASTIC TABS FROM THE TRIM PIECE. WHEN REMOVING THE TRIM THE PLASTIC TABS BREAK OFF. EITHER WE HAVE TO GLUE OR REWELD THE TABS (WHICH IS NOT COST EFFECTIVE; APPROX $35 RETAIL) OR REPLACE.

Suggestion

            To All:

Please review these operation. Please consider listing this part as not reusable

Response:
ADP:
We reviewed the Dodge service information in regard to the trim panel surrounding the stationary quarter glass. Dodge states that the quarter glass trim panel will be difficult to remove without damage and to check availability of replacement before removal. In this statement Dodge is saying that it is possible to remove this part without it being damaged, however they are also saying that there is a good possibility that it will be damaged. Unfortunately since Dodge holds out the possibility of this part to be replaced without damage we are unable to text this as a non-reusable part.

Motor Information System 10/8/2004 - Refer to GTE pages, G6, Damaged or Non-Reusable Moldings and Fasteners

Mitchell 10/12/2004: Review of Dodge service information does not show this part as being non-reusable.  With this in mind, Mitchell cannot state this as non-reusable.
