Inquiry
(as stated by inquirer) Replacing
the lower control arm on the V6 model, there are additional steps
that are required which leads to more time than the 4 cylinder
model. The
process involves: ¨
Loosening the engine
and transmission mounts ¨
Removing the four bolts
from the rear left side transmission mount (next to the control arm
bolt) ¨
Elevating the engine ¨
Removing the
transmission mount These
steps facilitate the removal of the anchor bolt. These steps are not
required with the 4 cylinder model. Suggestion
To All: Please review this operation.
Response:
Mitchell: As stated: "found the procedure to remove the lower control arm bolt to be equal for the 4cyl and the V6. The transmission mounts do not require removal in either situation."
ADP:
Manufacturer's Service Information made
no mention that there are differences between the replacement of the
front lower control arms on the 4cyl. opposed to the 6cyl. We took
it a step further and contacted several local Honda dealerships,
that confirmed the operations to replace the front lower control arm
on the 6cyl. Accord are the same as the operations on the 4cyl.
Accord. Motor Information System 10/8/2004 - No service information to support different labor time for the difference in engine sizes. Contacted local dealer and was quoted a labor time of 1.5 hours to replace on a V6 Accord. MOTOR list 1.3 hours. |
