Inquiry (as stated by inquirer)

There are differences between different models and seat options; this should be taken into consideration for the seat belt replacement time allowances. Listed are the many operational steps that are required to replace the seat belts on an F-250 Super Cab. Because newer vehicle seat belts are now commonly connected to the SRS safety system there is an ever increasing requirement to replace seat belts.

Operation steps to replace “seat belt buckle” (mounted to inner side of seat):

¨       Disconnect wire harness

¨       Remove anchor bolt trim cover

¨       Remove 5 anchor bolts

¨       Remove seat from vehicle

¨       Replace buckle unit

Operation steps for “seat belt retractor” assembly (mounted inside of seat-back upright):

¨       Remove trim panel, mounted at outer side of seat base

¨       Remove head rest

¨       Remove “retractor trim  cover” located at top of seat back

¨       Remove trim panel on back side of seat back (replace trim panel fasteners)

¨       Replace retractor assembly

Suggestion

To All: Please review this operation.

Response:
Mitchell:
We updated labor notes to the side seat belts and center seat belts and buckles to better describe the repair.  We also added additional labor options with SIR.

ADP: 04/21/2004 We will be adding the additional labor operations required to replace the seatbelts.  The following operations will be added seat R & I  and all appropriate interior trim panels.

Motor Information System 10/8/2004 (DR2ME99) Changed labor time on seat belt buckle to 0.3 hours and labor time on the seat belt retractor to 0.8 hours with footnote “Time is for retractor assembly.”
