Inquiry
(as stated by inquirer) ¨
To replace the rear
center panel the left and right “tail lamp panels” (welded part)
must be removed and replaced; the
center panel under-laps the outer “tail lamp panels.” ¨
To replace the “tail
lamp panel” the area where the tail lamp panel attaches to the
quarter panel must be partially removed; the
“tail lamp panel” under-laps the quarter panel. (This
step causes a substantial amount of “removal damage” to the
quarter panel) ¨
The
data base does not list the “tail lamp panels.” ¨
Mitchell’s labor note
suggests that if the two quarter panels are being replaced in
conjunction to the rear center panel you deduct 4.0 hours; leaving a
balance of 2.5 hours to install the back panel. This may be an
unrealistic time allowance, considering the additional step-s
required for the “tail lamp panels.” Suggestion
To
All: 1.
Please review this operation, focusing on the outer tail lamp
panels. 2.
Please list in your data base the tail lamp panels.
Response: Mitchell, 06/19/03 Combination lamp panels have been listed in the database. Refinish labor allowance of 0.5hrs has been added as well as an R&R time of 3.0hrs. A labor note to deduct 1.5hrs with side body panel removed applies. Rear body panel allowance has been adjusted to 7.3hrs. The applicable labor note has also been updated to state, “w/one combination lamp housing panel removed.”
ADP: 04/14/2004 We have these taillamp mounting panels in our system currently. The time to replace these is 2.0 hrs deducting an hour if either the quarter panel or the rear body panel is removed. The time to replace the rear body panel is 7.2 hrs. We feel that these times are reflective of the operations involved. Motor
Information System 10/8/2004 (DR2JK00) Renamed part description
to “tail lamp pocket” listed in the Quarter Panel group, Inner
Structure subgroup. Added labor time of 2.5 hours and refinish time
of 0.3 hours. Added Overlap Operations, R&R tail lamp pocket, w/rear
body panel off and w/quarter panel off |
