Inquiry
(as stated by inquirer) To remove the left upper control arm mounting bolt, the SRS sensor must
be removed; to remove the SRS sensor the battery must be removed
for access to the sensor. The SRS sensor is directly in front of
bolt. Suggestion: ¨ To all: Please indicate in your labor note the additional steps that are required. Motor: Labor note for this operation is confusing; stating the time includes the R&R of the upper ball joint. Motor shows a 1.0 hour time allowance to replace the upper ball joint (one can assume that is with the upper control arm removed, as a stand alone operation) which would leave .3 hours to R&I the upper control arm. The labor note is inconsistent with the replacement of the ball joint
Response: Mitchell: In order to properly remove the bolt retaining the left upper control arm, the battery, overflow tank and SRS sensor should be removed. Therefore we put a labor note stating the necessity to remove these items Motor Information System 10/8/2004 - (ARM8510)No service information for R&I SRS sensor. Operation is a D&R by technician discretion. Deleted footnote from upper control arm. Upper ball joint has labor time of 1.0 hour with footnote “Time included with R&I/R&R knuckle.” |
