Inquiry (as stated by inquirer) In the “Refinish Operations” section of the ADP 2000 Data Base Reference Manual (page 139 in the “Operations Not Included” section it states; “Mask inner, adjacent jambs Mask mouldings”. ADP now wants to change this operation from not-included to included.
Suggestion: ADP The industry would be better served by maintaining the existing standard for this operation as being not included; changing the classification midstream will lead to confusion and misunderstanding within our industry. Response: ADP: 7/31/2003 - We have reviewed changing this to included, however, the decision has been made to leave this as a not included operation for masking inner and adjacent jambs, as well as mouldings.
MOTOR: 04/01/05 - The refinish and masking operation is clearly defined in MOTOR Guide to Estimating (GTE).: G51 REFINISH TIME PREMISE Published refinish times are for one color applied to new undamaged OEM replacement components, without exterior trim or other attached components, and applied in one continuous process.
G52 REFINISH, WET/DRY SAND, DE-NIB, RUB-OUT AND/OR BUFF TIME DOES NOT INCLUDE: Mask inner panels ex: apron/cowl/pillars/rail/floor, etc.
G53 BASIC COLOR COAT APPLICATION INCLUDED: Mask adjacent panels (3 foot perimeter). Mask/close gap between adjacent panels up to foam tape (overspray). Mask glass opening. Mask/ protect grille radiator opening (overspray). DOES NOT INCLUDE: Cover/mask engine/compartment to prevent overspray. Cover/mask entire exterior of vehicle to prevent overspray damage. Cover/mask for prime and block. Cover/mask for cut-in. Cover/mask recessed edges/jambs. Cover/mask trunk/compartment to prevent overspray. Cover/mask interior of vehicle to prevent overspray damage.
