Inquiry (as stated by inquirer) We have a 2002 Mercedes ML 55 in the shop. What I found was you can not R&I the wheel flares on the fenders or on the Quarter panels. The wheel flares are urethane on to the body. Since the wheel flares are so expensive could a labor note be added that wheel flares can not reused. This is also the case with the whole ML class.
Suggestion: ¨ Motor: Please review operation and add labor note. ¨ Mitchell: Please review operation and add labor note. ¨ ADP: Please review operation. Response: ADP, December 18, 2003: We reviewed the Mercedes service information on the wheel opening flares and found that Mercedes considers these reusable. They state that you should use a special BTB cutting tool with blade #WK24ZV. As a result of these findings we will support these parts the same as we currently have them in the system. Mitchell: the procedure to remove the fender flare is to cut the adhesive using a reciprocating tool MOTOR: Raised wheel flare times to 0.5 hours. Time is not included in R&R fender or quarter panel.
