Inquiry (as stated by inquirer)

·         To access the rear bolt on the hood hinge, the cowl vent panel must be removed; this additional operation adds 0.6 hours.

·         When removing the cowl panel, the small plastic screw caps (the caps the cover the Phillip-Head screws) become damaged and should be replaced.

Suggestion to all:

Include this information in the labor note.

Response:

ADP: We will be adding the time to R&I the upper cowl grilles to the replacement of the hood hinges. This time is to access the hinge bolt. Total replacement time will now be 1.1hrs on the left hood hinge and 1.3 hrs on the right hood hinge. This change will be made available on the March 2004 CD

Mitchell:  The cowl grille panel does have to be removed in order to replace the hood hinge.  A labor note has been added to the database to this affect.  Per OEM information, the screw caps are not designated as non-reusable.

MOTOR: Updated footnote on the hood hinges to indicate that the cowl vent panel has to be removed in order to access hinge bolts. “Time is after hood and cowl vent panels are removed.”
