Inquiry (as stated by inquirer) Hi March, Do you have any supporting documentation for replacing adhesive moldings? We seldom R&I adhesive moldings and most companies we work with go along. But Farmers is giving us some grief. This particular car is a Toyota Camry. Perhaps ICAR or SCRS have something? Thanks for your help. Joe
Suggestion to all data providers: Please clearly reiterate the proper steps as what times and procedures an estimator is allowed when using your estimating program to describe this operation. There is confusion as to what should be legitimately added to this operation.
Response: MOTOR: DR1GH99: Updated labor time on both fenders to 2.5 hours and added footnote for the right fender “Time includes R&I/R&R recovery tank, air cleaner assembly and mount bracket.” and for the left fender “Time includes R&I/R&R battery and battery tray.” Mitchell: Currently R&I of adhesive exterior trim is a not included operation. Our Procedure Pages state, “Remove and install adhesive exterior trim; add to clean and retape.” As adhesive trim material types and adhesive for bonding them vary, establishing baseline allowances for cleanup has been difficult. However, as companies develop more advanced adhesives, establishment of R&I times may be foreseeable in the near future. ADP: 04/08/2004 Currently on the ADP system the R&I of mouldings is an exclusion of labor. Additionally, the removal of the moulding adhesive is also an exclusion of labor. Due to different adhesives available ADP is unable at this time to provide a standard time as the procedures to remove the different adhesives may very widely.
