Inquiry (as stated by inquirer)

We just went to R&I a head liner in this vehicle and what a pain in the _ _ _ this was to do. We were able to drop it down but the wiring harness is glued to the headliner with some strong glue. If you try to pull the wiring off the headliner .It starts to tear up and damage the headliner itself. We couldn’t get the liner out of the car unless we take the left side of the driver’s dash board apart. After taking the entire interior trim down around the corners of the vehicle and UN hooking the center console with a LED Screen (TV). We needed to take the left kick panel apart and the upper dash panel, the bezel, speedometer cluster panel and the left ac vents and switches to be able to access the 2 connectors of the wiring to unplug and snake up through the dash to get the headliner out of the vehicle. This also is a battle to get the end of the connector out of the dash since the end is a big 1 inch square connector and the space is barely enough to squeeze this though. In the book the time is 3 hours to do both the front and the rear head liner. There is no way you can do this in this amount of time.

Suggestion to all data providers:

Please review this operation and confirm the required steps for the removal process.

Response:

Mitchell: 04/05/2004 After reviewing manufacturer's and in-house information, we modified the headliner labor note to include the front headliner R&I and the upper instrument trim panel R&I/R&R.  We also added an additional labor option with video system of 0.8hrs.

ADP: 04/19/2004 We will add time to remove the instrument panel pad (.9hrs), however removal of wiring is an exclusion of labor and would require a manual entry by the estimator.

MOTOR: 04/01/05 -

MOTOR has updated the labor time to R&I both the front and rear headliners to 3.5 hours to account for the additional labor. MOTOR has an R&R labor time of 2.5 hours for the front headliner and a labor time of 1.4 hours for the rear.
