Inquiry (as stated by inquirer) Year model 03 On “full-door” models the door glass and belt molding must be removed when installing the door handle; you can remove the door handle with the glass in place, but you can not install the door handle without removing the glass & belt molding. The handle is secured with a “wedge” type clip; the clip can only be installed through the inch wide area between the inner door shell and outer door panel. * R&I door glass 1.0 hrs. * R&I belt molding Mitchell allows .02 hours and Motor allows 0.3 hrs.
Suggestion to all data providers: Please review this operation.
Responses:
ADP: 04/14/2004 During our research we found that the installation of the outer door handle on the full door does not require the removal of the door glass or the removal of the belt molding. There are specific steps that include lowering the glass to access the keepers and then raising the glass to connect the latch and reposition the waterdam.
Mitchell: 04/22/2004 We brought this model vehicle into our facility to review the operation. The study resulted in a change to the database. Notes have been added to the database describing the need to remove the glass to perform the operation. Photos available. MOTOR: 06/14/04 Updated labor time on the full door outside handle to 1.3 hours with footnote "Time includes R&I/R&R door glass and belt weatherstrip."
