| InsuranceCommittee Post Meeting Report CIC Meeting, Baltimore, Md July 19, 2001 |

| The Insurance Committee identified the enabling objectives for the top three issues: Acceptance of Any Recognized Estimating System, Standardized Claims Handling Process and Parts Selection by Price, Not Quality or Condition. The enabling objectives for Acceptance of Any Recognized Estimating System are to: List the top twenty insurers, identify primary estimating system used and if mandatory for DRP. Once this is determined the committee will attempt to determine the reason for requiring a specific system. The enabling objectives for Standardized Claims Handling Process are to: Identify the consistent steps in the claims handling process. When variations exist identify the reason for the variance. The enabling objectives for the Parts Selection by Price, Not Quality or Condition are to: Identify if the practice exists, identify how common the practice is and understand the rational for this practice. In Anchorage, the Insurance Committee will conduct a 25 minute interactive workshop to assist in completion of the enabling objective for our number one issue. The workshop will enable the CIC participants the opportunity to share their experience with mandated estimating systems while the committee captures the data into the template. A template has been designed to help facilitate the workshop and will be completed during the CIC meeting. Information not gathered on specific insurance companies will be obtained by direct contact with the insurance company. |
