CIC OEM Committee Report
April 5, 2001
Mission: Clarify collision repair issues requiring vehicle manufacturer cooperation, and seek vehicle manufacturer support to resolve key issues.

Committee Report: The new OEM Committee conducted its first meeting on April 5, 2001. The committee reviewed and approved its Mission Statement and discussed the Prioritized Issues as identified by the CIC survey. Two recommendations were made:
  • Further clarification is needed on the Prioritized Issues if they are to be addressed effectively.
  • Once clarified, it is likely a number of the Prioritized Issues will be similar. If so, these need to be consolidated and the resulting list needs to be re-prioritized.
To start the process, the committee will begin building an OEM Collision Repair Support Matrix, which will attempt to quantify existing OEM resources that address, in whole or in part, one or more Prioritized Issues. The matrix, which will include all major OEMs, will provide resource categories and contact methods for acquiring information. Once reviewed and approved by the OEM Committee, the draft OEM Collision Repair Support Matrix will be posted on the CIC website for review and comment. Specifically, CIC members will be asked whether the resources listed on the matrix provide answers to the Prioritized Issues. If not, the clarification provided will help the committee refine and better address the Prioritized Issues. It is hoped that feedback from this process will be presented at the CIC meeting in July.
